Nevada Expert Re-Appointed to Criminal Records Consortium
Improvements in Nevada CJIS Happening Rapidly

Nevada Governor Kenny Guinn has re-appointed Dennis DeBacco as Nevada's representative on SEARCH, the National Consortium for Justice Information and Statistics. He has been a SEARCH member since 1994 and has served on the group's Board of Directors. DeBacco is the System Administrator of the Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) and is also Nevada's member on the newly-created National Crime Prevention and Privacy Compact Council.

SEARCH represents and supports state interests in criminal history records management at the national level. It also serves states with direct technical assistance and training.

DeBacco has headed a complete overhaul of the Nevada CJIS in recent years. Nevadans and local law enforcement have already seen the benefits, which include the following:

Still to come is instant access to records on Missing Persons and Concealed Weapons Permits. DeBacco is also in charge of the Nevada Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) and is Nevada's representative on the Western Identification Network.

For more information, contact Dennis DeBacco at (775) 687-1600 extension 268.
