NHP, Metro Arrest Utah Most-Wanted Suspects
Suspects in High-Speed Chase Also Implicated in Local Burglaries
A man and woman wanted on various charges in Utah are also facing charges in Nevada after leading the Nevada Highway Patrol and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on a high-speed chase in the early morning hours of Friday, February 16th.
An NHP Trooper patrolling Interstate 15 near the Las Vegas Speedway exit pulled over a blue Pontiac which had been reported stolen. After initially stopping just off the interstate, the vehicle pulled back onto the highway, leading the trooper on a chase which reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour.
NHP called for assistance from LVMPD. A Metro police helicopter and ground units joined the chase as the suspect vehicle proceeded westbound on Charleston from I-15. A male suspect jumped out of the vehicle at the corner of Padua Way and Mohawk. Metro police apprehended him after a brief foot pursuit.
The female driver of the vehicle was eventually stopped at Alta Drive and Hualapai Way.
NHP officers booked 33-year-old Wade Russell Pennington of Kamas, Utah on charges of evading a police officer. He was wanted on two outstanding warrants from Utah. 29-year-old Kimberly Ann Bailey of Salt Lake City, Utah, was arrested on charges of evading a police officer, possession of a stolen vehicle and reckless. She was also wanted on a parole violation warrant from Utah. Both were jailed in the Clark County Detention Center.
Bailey told Metro police investigators that she and Pennington were involved in as many as 40 burglaries in the Las Vegas area, and as many as 20 in the Mesquite area. Investigations are continuing.
