IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 10, 2004
NEWS FROM: Director's Office 04-104
The Minden office of the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles will reduce services Monday and Tuesday, May 17 and 18, while new counters are installed. Motorists will only be able to request temporary permits and get questions answered in Minden. All other services will be referred to the Carson City office.
The Minden office will open for business as usual Wednesday, May 19 at 8 a.m.
“The new counters will be more safe and comfortable for the technicians,” Minden Office Manager Cary Graves said, “and some security features will be added. More importantly, though, the new counters will allow us to serve more customers by increasing the number of service positions from six to seven.”
Approved by the State of Nevada Legislature last session, the remodel will cost about $21,000 and be completed by a crew of up to eight Prison Industries inmates. The Carson City office at 555 Wright Way will be providing a full range of services during the Minden remodel and is prepared for increased traffic. “We expect some Minden customers will need to travel to Carson for services during the two days of remodeling,” Carson City Office Manager Annette Cornish said. “We’ll be ready for them.”
In addition, DMV’s Web site, at www.dmvnv.com, is a quick and easy alternative to visiting a DMV office. The Web site offers driver’s license and vehicle registration renewal services as well as the ability to download forms, calculate fees and print out personal driver histories.
