IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 14, 2004
NEWS FROM: Director's Office 04-107
The Yerington office of the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles will reduce services Monday through Wednesday, June 21-23, while new counters and carpet are installed. Motorists will only be able to request temporary permits and get questions answered in Yerington. All other services will be referred to the Fallon or Hawthorne office.
The Yerington office will open for business as usual Thursday, June 24 at 8 a.m.
“The new counters will be more comfortable for customers,” Yerington Office Supervisor Jerri Kirk said. “Customers will be able to sit while completing their transactions. We will also be adding some security features, replacing the carpet and painting. The office will have a completely different look.”
Approved by the State of Nevada Legislature last session, the remodel will cost about $20,000 and be completed by a crew of Prison Industries inmates. The Fallon office at 973 West Williams Street and the Hawthorne office at 1085 Highway 95 will be providing a full range of services during the Yerington remodel and are prepared for increased traffic.
In addition, DMV’s Web site, at www.dmvnv.com, is a quick and easy alternative to visiting a DMV office. The Web site offers driver’s license and vehicle registration renewal services as well as the ability to download forms, calculate fees and print out personal driver histories.
