IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 17, 2006
NEWS FROM: Director's Office 06-001
For the first time in Nevada, motorists can now renew their driver’s license and vehicle registration using DMV kiosks in AAA Nevada offices in Henderson and Las Vegas.
Nevada motorists can use the kiosks to renew their registration, renew their driver’s license and reinstate their registration if insurance coverage has lapsed.
The kiosks can be found in AAA Nevada offices at 1000 North Green Valley Parkway, Suite 620 in Henderson and 3312 West Charleston Blvd., Suite 130 in Las Vegas. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
“Placing kiosks in AAA offices is just part of the department’s continuing effort to give our customers choices when doing business with us,” DMV Director Ginny Lewis said. “We’re optimistic that this pilot will be a huge success and that we’ll be expanding this public-private partnership as well as looking for other opportunities to partner with the public sector.”
The kiosks accept most credit cards and issue tags and documents on the spot. There’s no cost to use the kiosks and motorists don’t have to be a AAA member.
“AAA believes these kiosks will really cut down on how much time people have to spend on their vehicle and insurance,” said AAA Nevada spokesperson Michael Geeser. “This partnership with the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles will really benefit motorists in Southern Nevada who are looking to conduct their business in one location.”
AAA kiosks cannot provide out of state transactions. For renewals, motorists must bring their DMV notice with them to the AAA location.
