|NEWS FROM: Field Services||09-015|
The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles will be moving its field services branch office in Mesquite next week.
No DMV services will be available in Mesquite on Monday, November 23rd, to enable workers to move into the new office. The new facility, at 550 W. Pioneer Blvd. Suite 120, will open Tuesday, November 24th.
The old office, which opened in 1998, is located in the Smith’s shopping center at 330 N. Sandhill Road Suite H. Services there will be offered as usual through Friday, November 20th.
The new office, with 1,482 square feet of space, is slightly larger than the old office but the cost of the lease is the same. It features four service windows, automated knowledge testing and a self-service cash kiosk. The new landlord has built the space to specifications at no cost to the state.
Improvements at the new facility include easier access to handicapped parking and restrooms. It also features an on-site course for motorcycle drive tests. Previously, those exams were held at an off-site parking lot several blocks away.
The Department encourages Mesquite residents to use its alternate services when possible. Many transactions, such as registration renewals or address changes, can be completed on the Internet or by mail. Visit the DMV web site at www.dmvnv.com.
