|FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE||May 7, 2014|
Peloton Technology of Menlo Park, CA will demonstrate its Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communications and driver assistance technology Thursday at 11 a.m. near the Wadsworth Rest Stop on Interstate 80 (about 35 miles east of Reno).
Lt. Governor Brian Krolicki and representatives from Nevada DOT, Nevada Highway Patrol, Nevada DMV and the Governor’s Office of Economic Development are scheduled to appear at a press conference at the westbound Wadsworth Rest Stop on Interstate 80.
After brief remarks at the press conference, officials and news media will have the opportunity to ride in the cab of one of the semi-trucks used in the two-truck platooning system.
The V2V communications and driver assistance technology was developed to combat truck crashes and rising fuel costs, two major hurdles for the $650 billion trucking industry.
