State Fire Marshal to also be honored for his contributions to Nevada fire service
A ceremony to honor Nevada firefighters who have given their lives in the line of duty will be held this Saturday, October 10 at 10:00am at Mills Park in Carson City The honorees that will be memorialized include: Meredith R. Williams, Firefighter, Virginia City Fire Department; John L. Gray, Firefighter, Bureau of Land Management and Frank Nevin, Firefighter, Reno Fire Department. State Fire Marshal Marvin Carr will also be recognized for his contributions to Nevada fire sevice.
Marvin Carr's career in fire service spans 43 years. He began as a volunteer firefighter for Lyon County in 1955 and in 1971 he was appointed Fire Marshal. In 1991 Mr. Carr served as Director of Lyon County's Emergency Management Division. In 1996, Mr. Carr was named Executive Director of the State Emergency Response Commission and in June of this year, he was named Chief of the Fire Marshal Division of the Department of Motor Vehicles & Public Safety. He has also served as past president and life member of the Nevada State Fire Fighters Association, Nevada Fire Chiefs Association and the Nevada Emergency Preparedness Association. And in 1997, Mr. Carr was selected to the International "Who's Who" of Professionals Representing the Fire Service.
