Search and Rescue Training This Weekend

600 Professionals Hone Their Skills at the Washoe County Armory

The Nevada Division of Emergency Management is hosting a major search and rescue training conference Friday through Sunday at the Nevada National Guard's Washoe County Armory near Reno.

Media coverage of the LAST (Locate, Access, Stabilize, Transport) Conference is invited between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 17th as S&R experts from across the West participate in dozens of classes and field exercises.

Specific search and rescue topics available for photos and interviews on Saturday will include tracking missing persons, search operations for missing aircraft, canine high altitude searching and emergency response for terrorism.

Outdoor exercises will include tracking, using horses in search and rescue and using ATV's in search and rescue.

The LAST Conference is sponsored by the Division of Emergency Management, the National Association for Search and Rescue, the California Office of Emergency Services and the Washoe County Sheriff's Office.
