Law Enforcement Cadets Graduate From Nevada Law Enforcement Academy
Eighteen law enforcement jurisdictions represented
Friday will mark the culmination of three months of intense training for the thirty-nine graduates of the Nevada Law Enforcement Academy. Graduation ceremonies will be held in Carson City, Friday, June 25 at 2:00 pm in the second floor conference room of the Ormsby House . The keynote speaker will be Senator Lawrence Jacobsen.
During the 15 weeks of training, cadets live in dormitory-style barracks on the NLEA campus at the Stewart Center in Carson City. They undergo physical conditioning, firearms training, classroom and practical training in a vast array of law enforcement subjects. Examples include: Basic law, psychology, narcotics and domestic violence intervention. Graduates of the academy are certified as Category I and 2 law enforcement officers and they will go on to serve in police departments, sheriff's offices and other law enforcement and state agencies throughout Nevada.
The twenty-second class represents law enforcement agencies from: Lander County Sheriff's Office, Washoe County Juvenile Services, Nevada Highway Patrol, Gaming Control Board, White Pine County Sheriff's Office, Division of Wildlife, Churchill County Juvenile Probation, Wells Police Department, Pershing County Sheriff's Office, Elko County Juvenile Probation, Carson City Juvenile Probation, Churchill County Sheriff's Office, Capitol Police, Douglas County Sheriff's Office and Yerington Police Department.
The Nevada Law Enforcement Academy is a Division of the Department of Motor Vehicles
