Qualifications - Professional

You must show reasonable proof of identity and documentation as a Nevada professional full-time salaried fire fighter, or status as a former professional full-time salaried fire fighter with at least ten years of creditable service in the State of Nevada. Applicants for new plates must also complete an SP-41 Application.

Documentation includes the following:

An identification card issued by the Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada.
An identification card issued by the Nevada Fire Chiefs Association.
A letter certifying the applicant’s current or former employment as a professional full-time salaried fire fighter, which letter must be from:
- The Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada.
- The Nevada Fire Chiefs Association.
- The chief officer of a federal or state agency, the duties of which involve the prevention and suppression of fires, including the Bureau of Land Management and the Nevada Division of Forestry.

Qualifications - Volunteer

You must show reasonable proof of identity and proof of current service as a volunteer fire fighter, or status as a former volunteer fire fighter who retired from service as a volunteer fire fighter within this state after completing at least 10 years of active service. Applicants must also complete an SP 62 Application.

Documentation includes the following:

An identification card which indicates that the applicant currently serves as a Nevada volunteer fire fighter.
A letter from the chief officer of a volunteer or combination Nevada fire department certifying the applicant’s current or former service as a volunteer fire fighter.

Volunteer and combination departments must be recognized as such by the Nevada State Fire Marshal.

How Do I Get These Plates?

Standard Numbering

If your vehicle is currently registered in Nevada, download and complete the appropriate application. Bring this, the required documentation and the old plates to a DMV Full Service Office or County Assessor which offers vehicle registration services. If you wish to keep the old plates, you must bring the rear plate and surrender the decal in person.

If you choose to keep the same expiration date, we will issue your new plates with a new registration slip and decal. No emissions inspection or registration renewal is required. A $5 substitute plate fee will apply.

You have the option of renewing your vehicle registration for a full year. In addition to the plate application, you will need to complete an emissions inspection if required and if the last test was completed more than 90 days ago. Your expiration date will change if the current expiration date is more than 35 days away. Credit will be given for the unused portion of your current Nevada registration.

Personalized Numbering - These must be ordered for manufacture in person at a DMV Full Service Office or County Assessor which offers vehicle registration services.
