| The Department is holding six workshops or hearings that affect the following licensees: Auto dealers, body shops, emissions inspection stations and emissions inspections of federal government vehicles. The proposed amendments revise the reporting requirements for insurance companies. Insurance companies will have several methods for reporting, each with specific data requirements. The proposed amendments describe the responsibilities for registered owners to ensure their insurance record is current with the Department of Motor Vehicles.

The legal authority for the committee is established by Nevada
Revised Statute 445B.830. The committee shall:
-
Review applications for grants and make recommendations
for their approval, rejection or modification;
-
Establish goals and objectives for the program for control of emissions
from motor vehicles;
-
Identify areas where funding should be made available; and
-
Review and make recommendations concerning regulations adopted pursuant to
subsection 4 of NRS
445B.770.
The committee consists of 10 members appointed by the Deputy
Director of the Department of Motor Vehicles. It meets at least quarterly. See Nevada
Administrative Code 445B.853 - 857 for details.

The legal authority for the board is established by Nevada Revised Statute 487.002. See also the board bylaws.
The board shall:
-
Study the regulation of garagemen, automobile wreckers and operators of body shops and salvage pools, including, without limitation, the registration or licensure of such persons and the methods of disciplinary action against such persons;
-
Analyze and advise the Department relating to any consumer complaints received by the Department concerning garagemen, automobile wreckers or operators of body shops or salvage pools;
-
Make recommendations to the Department for any necessary regulations or proposed legislation pertaining to paragraph (a) or (b);
-
On or before January 15 of each odd-numbered year, prepare and submit a report concerning its activities and recommendations to the Governor and to the Director of the Legislative Counsel Bureau for transmission to the Legislature; and
-
Perform any other duty assigned by the Department.
The board consists of 7 members appointed by the Governor. It meets at least twice per year.
