Photographers Invited to Attend Veteran's Day Flag Raising

The Department of Motor Vehicles and Public Safety's Training Division Academy and the Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Academy are commemorating Veteran's Day with a special flag raising on Wednesday, November 10 at 7:30am at the DMV&PS Training Division Academy at 2601 Snyder.

The Nevada National Guard Color Guard will be presenting the flag raising. Forty-five cadets from POST and the DMV&PS academies will be in special formation in honor of our nation's veterans. Senator Lawrence E. Jacobsen will also be in attendance.

The DMV&PS Training Division is responsible for the basic law enforcement training and the continuing education of all the Department's peace officers. Public Safety Divisions for the DMV&PS include Nevada Highway Patrol, Capitol Police, Nevada Division of Investigation, Parole and Probation and the State Fire Marshal. The Training Division also provides programs for non-sworn employees and career enhancement opportunities for all Department employees.

The DMV&PS Training Division was mandated by the 1999 Legislature as a result of the separation of the Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) from the DMV&PS to a Cabinet level Commission which reports directly to the Governor. POST now operates a law enforcement academy to train peace officers from rural jurisdictions. The new DMV&PS Training Division staff is made up of employees from many Public Safety Divisions within the Department.
